Hi Kerry,

Good to hear from you again.

I agree. Had the Democrats been actively grooming and promoting talent since the Obama days, they wouldn't have been left in a situation where they only had Biden as a viable candidate in 2020.

Regarding the demographics, that might well be true. But here's the thing - the average Republican voter is far more devout than the average Democrat. The latter may miss voting because they had other things going on on eleciton day, for example, but the former won't. They're involved in "something bigger than themselves."

As far as the White House goes, I agree with you. Anyone left-of-center is going to have a rough time in America. But I also think it's about how you market yourself. Socialism is never going to win both there and in Britain (I myself am not a socialist). People generally aren't fond of the idea of having to give up what's rightfully theirs. And we all know how the world works. The rich and power always remain untouchable (even the Communists end up maintaining an 'oligarchy.') It's always going to be the poor and middle class who have to fork up whatever little they have.

Point being, socialism may not win but a social democracy might. Let the free market remain free. But instead of putting so much money into wars, put them into universal healthcare and education and so on (just like Europe). Any Democrat who does so needs to be on their toes though, and needs to be politically savvy, because Fox News and the GOP won't wait for a moment before falsely branding it as communism.

And lastly, regarding your point on the American future, I've recently written something on the GOP being far better at getting that point across than the Democratic party. It may be of interest to you:
